What are Snapchat Geofilters?
Geofilters are special Snapchat overlays that communicate the “where and when” in a fun way. Users can send them to their friends or add them to their own Snapchat stories. Here are 3 examples:
They allow Snapchat users to engage with a brand and share it with their friends. Think hashtags years ago. Gary Vaynerchuck believes Snapchat Geofilters are the next hashtags for business. The only difference is that they are location based.
We believe Snapchat filters are the future for Local Businesses on Snapchat.
Here are 3 simple but effective ways to use Snapchat Geofilters for your Local business.
1. Attract more visitors to your Local Café/ Restaurant/ Nightclub.
The most common and simple way of using Geofilters is to create a brand Geofilter for your visitors. Every time a Snapchat user takes a Snap with your Geofilter and adds it to their Story, their friends can see it. And if your Geofilter is your logo, then you are getting unlimited brand exposure through Social Media Impressions.
If you own a local café or a restaurant, you can put an extra leaflet on each table. The leaflet shows them how to take Snaps of their coffee and food and use the Snapchat Geofilters.
If you own a local nightclub, you can add to your bar noticeboard that party people can use the unique Geofilter throughout the evening. And if you want to even go creative, you could offer free shots to the first 100 people who take a Snap with the Geofilter. Just ask them to show the Snaps to the bar staff.
The possibilities are limitless.
2. Advertise open recruitment positions in your company.
Are you hiring and not receiving enough applications? Are you looking for young professionals between 18-34? Try Snapchat Geofilters!
SkySlope, a software company in Sacremento, did exactly that. They designed a Snapchat Geofilter which highlights that they are hiring. Their employees used the Geofilter during their lunch break and it reached their friends.
Results? With 130 users, the Geofilter reached 3,176 people during the 2 days campaign.

You can do exactly the same for your business. Create a Snapchat Geofilter for your staff members and encourage them to use share it with their friends. Whether you are hiring or wanting to drive brand awareness to your website and company, Snapchat Geofilters has a great potential.
3. Advertise local events and attract more attendees.
Do you have a local event you are running and want to promote? A networking event? A local concert or festival? A sports day?
Try Snapchat Geofilters.
Since Geofilters are location based, you can submit your design where it makes sense for your target audience. Targeting students? Hit their university campuses. Targeting young professionals working in the City? Choose the location with the most offices.
An example Geofilter would say “LIVERPOOL FOOD FEST 17th May” #liverpoolfest”. That will not only show people that a Festival is coming but it will also tell them when and how to find out more about it.
